Teenagers nowadays have other ways of enjoying themselves than we or our parents had when we were their age. There were not as many means of information as there are now, so children and teenagers can easily find out anything they want, or even worse, what they do not want, from the Internet.
This is how smoking weed has become a renown activity. Even children know what it means, so it comes as no surprise if once they grow up they start doing that. Another cause why children start smoking weed when they become teenagers is that this is something they see on a daily basis in town, at school or even at home.
Being a taboo subject, it is not taken very seriously, as nowadays everyone is smoking weed. So why should teenagers not smoke? Their parents should be the first ones to explain the risks that smoking weed involves. The main problem is that once teenagers start smoking weed they will want more and more until marijuana will no longer be enough so they will search for more powerful substances, like ecstasy or heroin.
Then, the schools should have special information centers, where teachers and psychologists would discuss this problem with the students. The participation in the discussions of the information center should not be mandatory, every student should go to the center at least once a week.
We all know that teenagers want to be cool, they want to be popular and admired, so they are taking after each other. They form groups, so it is enough that one of them starts to smoke weed for the rest of them to follow. Teenagers with problems at home are easy targets for the dealers, as well as the wealthy ones.
Regardless the reason, teenagers should understand that smoking weed is not a healthy activity, but this will not happen if the parents and the teachers are not aware of this. The wise thing to do would be to join their forces and try to awake the sense of responsibility in teenagers.
